Behind the Scenes of Simple Elements
People always like to know who they’re working with. So it’s my hope that others will gain some insight into what makes me tick. Read on to learn more about behind the scenes of Simple Elements.
Allow me to introduce myself…
Name: Nicole Schenk
Role in Simple Elements: Owner, Property Stylist
I’ve had a passion for all things design since I was a kid, I just didn’t recognize this until I was in my 30’s. After university I studied fashion design. That led me to a 14 yr career working with leading fashion retailers. My favorite aspect was visual merchandising– creating window displays and floor layouts. Little did I know it would end up being the perfect segue into what I’m doing now.
Q&A with Our Principal Designer, Nicole Schenk
At Work
My favorite aspect of design is…
The final showcasing- seeing a vision all come together.
The most exciting project I’ve worked on so far is…
I love what I do, so they’re all exciting. But what I find most exciting is the work that allows me the opportunity to give back. Earlier this year I had the opportunity to work on the Total Home Rooms of Wellness campaign for some of the children of CHEO. My fellow colleague Stacie Chamberlin, of Access Home Staging, and I worked together to design a room for our young client.
At Home
My most prized possession in my home is…
MyLV.
People say I’m…
tenacious.
I say I’m…
a perfectionist.
I cannot live without…
Peppermint tea! Love my peppermint tea.
My Very Important People are…
My family- my husband Kris and our beautiful girls Alexandra and Ainsley and our crazy pets- Jake, Toby and Oreo. They keep me going.
If I could go anywhere in the world, it would be…
New York City. I’ve been there 7 times. It is, without a doubt, my favorite city. It’s not very exotic or very original, but there’s no denying it’s exciting.
If I was a household object, I’d be…
I’ve thought about this long and hard….no, not really, but I’ve got nothin’.
When I’m not at work, you can find me…
Shopping for home décor. Much to my husband’s chagrin.
Check out one of my favorite haunts here.
And there you go…just a snippet of me behind the scenes. If you’re still reading this… thank you! It is my hope that you found this even remotely interesting. And if not, well then, I’m sorry. 🙂
Moving along, I’m looking forward to meeting you and seeing how I can help.
