Longtime Fort Greene grocery staple Greene Grape Provisions reopened Thursday, December 1, prompting congratulations and sighs of reduction on Instagram. The boutique grocer had unexpectedly closed in August after uncovering a structural problem with the constructing at 767 Fulton Avenue that prompted the Division of Buildings to problem a vacate order August 3.
A bit of the rear wall had separated from the three-story brick constructing and was in a “extreme state of disrepair,” in response to the DOB. Flooring on two ranges within the rear had been sagging and sloping towards the rear wall.
The store was utterly empty and gutted to make repairs to the constructing, which took a number of months. A go to Sunday in the course of the World Cup reveals all the pieces is again in place.
Probably the most costly grocery choices within the borough, the favored and all the time busy boutique enterprise carries natural produce and has a butcher counter, ready meals and a cheese counter. The enterprise started as a wine store, The Greene Grape, and grew right into a mini empire up and down Fulton Avenue that at numerous instances included a restaurant and ice creamery.
